Mr. George Wagner, an aged resident of this place, met with a sudden death at his the home of his daughter, Mrs. Andy Schaffer, Tuesday evening. Mr. Wagner has been blind for more than twenty years and has not been in the habit of going about mumuch without being led. Thursday evening he was standing in the back door of their residence and in some unaccountable manner slipped and fell down several steps. He was at once removed to the house and died in a few moments. Dr. T. S. Rosengranant was called who found that his neck had been broken by the fall and he probably never realized what had happened. Mr. Wagner came from Miltonsburg with his daughter about twenty-five years ago and has been cared for in her home during all that time. He soon after became affected with cataract which seemed to be incurable and for more than twenty years he has been shut in from the world by total blindness, but accepted his affliction with patience and fortitude. Notwithstanding his a afflictions he lived to the advanced age of 85 years. He was a devoted Catholic all his life and although the summons came quickly he was found ready, and the change from darkness into light was no doubt a happy one. The remains will be taken to his old home at Miltonsburg on Thursday for interment. (May 11, 1905)
