Sister Aloysius Joseph for a considerable length of time during the early years of her religious life was engaged in the class room. There she fulfilled well and conscientiously the task of the teacher. Kind and affable bot in the class room and in her convent home, she won the hearts of the children, and the esteem and love of the Sisters with whom she was associated. Her superiors, recognizing in her that fitness required to take charge of the large Indian Mission at Keshena, assigned her to this mission, where for more than twenty years she labored with untiring zeal among the dusky children of the forest. Though many hardships were not, wanting, and the unresponsiveness of the Indian was often met with, though results seemed not in proportion to the generous self sacrifice of our dear Sister Alysius Joseph of St. Joseph patiently and perseveringly continued to labor with unabated energy for the good of her charges. In spite of all difficulties she loved the missionary field and missed it keenly when obedience assigned her other work. It was as if our Lord wished to give this dear religious a respite from her toil before calling her to Himself. Sickness and pain sounded their warning, and while our Sister would have been glad to recover her health, she resigned herself to the loving dispensation of the Master. Carefully she prepared for the end, and with lamp trimmed awaited the Bridegroom's coming. May she rest now in the bosom of her God, WHom she so faithfully served.
